Common Railers are an acoustic band from Ithaca NY. Their sound ranges from country, blues and bluegrass to singer-songwriter, pop and rock. Peter Glanville and Gordon Rowland write and sing most of the band's original songs, and covers are from the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Hank Williams, Tom Waits and the Old 97's. At live shows, members often switch between multiple instruments, with Mike Costello on acoustic upright bass and slide dobro, Gordon Rowland on mandolin, banjo and accordion, and Chad Crumm sitting in on fiddle and banjo. Acoustic guitar is handled by Peter Glanville, who is lucky enough to play only one instrument. The band has been playing since summer 2006 and plays a wide variety of venues from coffee houses to rock clubs.
